SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS TO Canal bq
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION
As Canal BQ numbers are thematic, the editorial board has recently decided to accept manuscripts by invitation only. The invitation will be sent to authors to write about review articles on their specific area of expertise. Thus, unsolicited manuscripts will no longer be considered. However, the editorial board will consider the suggestion of themes for future numbers of Canal BQ. Please send your suggestions to canalbq@spb.pt.
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
The manuscripts submitted to Canal BQ should be reviews on a specific theme of biochemistry and related scientific areas under a wider theme suggested by the editorial board in the invitation made to the authors. Opinion articles may be considered, but the current focus of the journal are high quality reviews written in English. From April 2011 onwards, the editorial board decided not to accept manuscripts written in Portuguese any longer, in order to expose the journal to a wider international audience, one of the steps required to be indexed by the ISI Web of Knowledge.
Manuscripts from invited authors can be submitted by e-mail to canalbq@spb.pt. Manuscripts must follow the manuscript format as described below. The latest issue can be read here.
MANUSCRIPT FORMAT
Manuscripts should be prepared in MS-Word and A4 pages with double spacing between the lines; 3-cm margins all over the page are required. Embedded pictures are allowed for submission but should the manuscript be accepted for publication, graphics and pictures should be made available in individual files with adequate quality for printing (e.g. TIFF format).
In case the authors are using protected material from third parties, it is the authors' duty to make sure that all the legal authorizations have been obtained.
The manuscript must include:
i. Title page. Concise title, author(s) and synoptic title (up to 50 characters, including spaces).
ii. Abstract (except opinion papers). In a separate page and limited to no more than 250 words.
iii. References must be numbered sequentially and listed in the end of the manuscript with the format demanded for FEBS J, namely:
Figure legends should be gathered in a single section of the manuscripts, and placed before the reference list. When figures are embedded in the text file, they should be placed after the reference list. The final decision on publication or rejection of the manuscript rests with the Editorial Board, which will make use of the peer review system for advice.
